Art Partners Custom Picture Framing began by Barbara Sweeney in 2007, after purchasing Forget Me Not Framing which was located in Ashton, Maryland. She soon moved the shop to Clarksville, Maryland and Art Partners Custom Picture Framing was born! After a glorious 10 years of serving our wonderful customer base (many of whom still frequent us) in Clarksville, Barbara and team decided the best decision was to move the business one final time–to our beautifully appointed studio out of Barbara’s home in Colesville/Silver Spring, Maryland, in the spring of 2017, where our shop resides today.
As we are now a home-based business, our drop off/design sessions and pickup are by appointment only. In meeting with you by appointment only, you will be sure to receive 100% of our attention while designing your next custom framing project–no competing with other customers, your time with us is just for you! This new method of working with you insures that we can meet with you when it is convenient for YOU as we continue to provide you with our top-notch skills in framing your photography, oil paintings, watercolors, giclee prints and canvases, children’s artwork, sports memorabilia and more. Together we can design unique pieces to adorn your walls or to give as gifts. We can even help with photo restoration. We stay committed to using only top quality conservation material in all our framing and still carry a huge assortment of frame mouldings and mats.

We believe that every memory deserves a beautiful frame. We have many years of framing experience to offer and, because many of us are artists, we have a unique perspective to offer you.

Meet your framers
Barbara Sweeney, owner of Art Partners Custom Picture Framing and master framer, originally hails from St. Louis Park, Minnesota. After receiving her BA in Art at Brown University and an MBA in business at the University of Virginia, she settled in Silver Spring, Maryland where she has been a resident for over 30 years. She is an artist herself and botanicals are often the subject of her work. Opening a frame shop and gallery has been a lifelong dream of hers and she looks forward to meeting you! Barbara received her CPF from the Professional Picture Framers Association on August 21st, 2011 and continues to research and implement the newest conservation practices.
Theresa Calvert Novak is our lead framer, and has an eye for design that is unparalleled! She can breathe life into any framing job, from a standard diploma to a massive painting. She excels in creative solutions to framing conundrums, and she is a wizard at keeping abreast of the newest design trends. She has a BS in Art from Towson University. In her off-hours, Theresa is a huge animal advocate and participates in the March for the Animals which benefits the Maryland SPCA, and The Walk for Paws that benefits the Howard County Animal Advocates.
Cristina Garcia Green is our now part-time framer, and she’s excited to keep one foot in the framing world while the other is planted in the realm of raising her young daughter. She also moonlights as a certified personal trainer and is a graduate from Tyler School of Art in Philidelphia with a BFA. Though she may only be here part-time, she loves bringing your ideas to fruition and treating your pieces with skill and care.
